SAMHSA News (July/August 2009, Vol. 17, No. 4): Coordinating Care for Children with Serious Mental Health Challenges

Coordinating care for children with serious mental health challenges is the focus of the SAMHSA News cover story for the July/August issue. SAMHSA’s Center for Mental Health Services has funded the Systems of Care program for many years. Three grantee programs are highlighted including Wraparound Oregon’s program for very young children, Tiwaha Wakan’s program for children on reservations, and a successful grantee “graduate” in Westchester, NY. Other topics include a report on retail sales of tobacco to young people, a state-by-state report on substance abuse statistics, health reform and behavioral health, how parental involvement affects youth’s substance use, and more.
