Do they know the consequences of the drugs such as addictions and the possibility of getting hiv beforehand?

Resolved Question: If cocaine presents no terrible physical withdrawal symptoms when addicts quit, then why is it considered?
physically addictive but cannabis/marijuana isn’t?
Just curious to know why two drugs that do not present physical withdrawal symptoms are treated so differently. One regarded very serious addiction and the other disregarded almost. Can any one enlighten me please?

Resolved Question: Drug Addiction, cocaine, alcohol, cannabis?
How do you define an addictive substance?
I.e Cocaine does not have terrible physical withdrawal symptoms but few would argue that it is not physically addictive.
Cannabis also has no terrible withdrawal symptoms but most conclude that it is psychologically addictive but not physically addictive.
Alcohol: is it an addictive substance or a disease as the AA claim?
How do you define addiction?
